Centenary Season Finale - Sunday 3 April 2022 3pm

Described by The Strad as “exuberant… seductive… with bravura and oodles of personality”, prize-winning violinist Joo Yeon Sir has appeared as a soloist with the Royal Philharmonic, Philharmonia, and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras amongst many others. She appears here with the RTWSO for the first time.

We look forward to collaborating with this exciting and vibrant artist who gathers accolades and plaudits wherever she performs.

For the final sounds of this special Centenary Season, we turn to one of the great Viennese symphonists Anton Bruckner. The huge cathedral-like structure of his symphonies, the 7th being no exception, never fails to leave audiences both moved and elated.

A fitting way to transition from our first 100 years of music-making to the next.

Joo Yeon Sir (Violin)

Korean-born British violinist Joo Yeon Sir is a winner of the prestigious Arts Club Karl Jenkins Classical Music Award, in association with Classic FM. Among her many UK appearances, she recently made her debut with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

She has released two discs to huge critical acclaim, both on the Rubicon label: Suites & Fantasies (‘a dazzling debut’ The Guardian) and Chaconnes, Divertimento & Rhapsodies (‘lovely
playing’ BBC Radio 3).

Joo Yeon plays on a Matteo Goffriller violin provided by Georg von Opel.
