Katherine Lacy is one of the country’s most exciting clarinettists, having held principal positions with a number of UK orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also in great demand as a soloist and makes her second appearance with the RTWSO, this time playing the Copland concerto. The piece has a strong jazz influence, having been commissioned by clarinettist Benny Goodman, and is technically challenging for both soloist and orchestra alike. Fauré and Sibelius provide a great variety of style to this concert.
