Join the Royal Tunbridge Wells Symphony Orchestra
We are always looking for enthusiastic local players of a high standard and if you are interested in becoming an orchestral member, please contact Anne Parker for further information. There are vacancies in the orchestra especially in the strings.
The RTWSO performs six concerts a year at the Assembly Hall Theatre Tunbridge Wells, often working with internationally renowned artists. We rehearse every Friday in Langton Green, near Tunbridge Wells.
Members are required to attend all rehearsals before each performance with our fully professional players joining us on the day of the concert.
When vacancies arise within the RTWSO, instrumentalists from all sections of the orchestra could be invited by the Orchestra Manager to perform in concerts, after a successful trial period. The Music Director and RTWSO committee regularly review the situation of all its playing members.
What our players say:
“The RTWSO has become one of the highlights of my week; it is almost sad to go home. Much the most exciting and friendly band I have played in!”
(Jane, Viola)
“Arrived for the rehearsal tired and despondent – left after two hours of hard work with horizons opened up and spirits restored.”
(Vreni, First Violin)
“I really look forward to Friday nights – the atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the rehearsals are real musical collaborations, of which our carefully selected conductors are very much a part. If that wasn’t enough, the concert-day experience is unparalleled.”
(Andrew, Clarinet)
“Friday night is music night – SOMETHING must have kept me coming for the last 40 years!”
(Valerie, Cello)
“Playing for the RTWSO gives pleasure to so many, challenges me musically and allows me to play with many excellent musicians and well-known soloists, as well as being a very enjoyable and rewarding experience! “
(Sue, Cello)
