The Volunteers’ Big Thank You Picnic, organised by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, was held in Calverley Grounds on Saturday 18th September. The event was an opportunity for the town to thank those who gave their time to help others during the pandemic.
A highlight of the afternoon was our very own RTWSO Wind Quintet who performed a wonderful selection of music including the highly appropriate Teddy Bears’ Picnic, a rendition of The Great Escape and some pieces by Mozart and Haydn. Many thanks to Hamish, Helen, Philip, David and Laurence for their great performance.
It was an unseasonably sunny day, the atmosphere was buzzing, and a trusty team of RTWSO volunteers drummed up a lot of support and interest in our forthcoming season. Leaflets, brochures and stickers were given out in abundance, and public awareness of the orchestra was definitely increased as we promoted the start of our exciting year of Centenary celebrations!
